Transportation
SMPC is charged by the Michigan Department of Transportation with conducting regional transportation planning for areas outside the metropolitan areas (Kalamazoo County and the Northwestern section of Calhoun County).
Economic Development
SMPC serves its members through community development, placemaking, and funding development services. SMPC also maintains a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy for the entire region.
Planning
SMPC offers master planning, land use planning, and recreational planning services to local units of government within the region. SMPC is also working to provide grant writing, information technology, strategic planning, and other services.
